cycling carnival
Yesterday the Levi’s & Urban Outfitters Get in the Saddle bike tour hit Levi’s Plaza. It was truly a cycling carnival with bike-powered rides and free Vietnamese sandwiches, you know to replace the calories you used to send your coworkers hurling into the sky. Smile, NY
I wish I could be in my city this weekend to remember this solemn anniversary. From my bedroom window, I can see the big columns of light that shine every year on 9/11 where the Twin Towers used to stand. They are so heavenly, reaching into the night’s hanging clouds.
I only remember seeing the towers twice as a child from the NJ Turnpike so it is not so strange for me to see the skyline...

Today at Levi's Plaza...
… we had a massive Town Hall meeting with everyone in the building- which meant long elevator rides and empty desks. Everyone couldn’t fit in one room so I sat in a smaller room that had the meeting broad-casted on a big screen. Leaders of the Levi Strauss & Co brands spoke about the current state of business.

3 Day Weekend
Since I realized earlier this week that a holiday weekend was approaching, I have made no plans to leave the city. Since my week was hectic and I went to bed so late every night, I am ready to catch up on sleep, running and magazines so I can start next week fresh.

Party at the Plaza
There was an event last night at the Levi’s Plaza store to introduce press and bloggers to the Fall 11 line. The store was hopping and everyone was excited to get styled by the store associates and designers.

Hometown Worries
Where I grew up, hurricanes were a massive deal. The hurricane of 1944 took out most of the Atlantic City boardwalk- our biggest and oldest claim to fame. Back then it stretched around the East coast of the island but some of it never was replaced.

My First Shoes
Well these aren’t my first, but my first hard shoes as a baby were a pair of white Minnetonka loafers. My mother was always buying us hand-made moccasins and as an adult I just can’t get enough. I wore my last pair into the ground and finally replaced them last week with this new style.

I don’t know where I would be without this bad boy lately. Whether I’m schlepping the laptop to work or to a coffee shop to read my favorite online mag, this case is my lifesaver. I’m glad I picked such a neutral color and design since it has also become a staple in my wardrobe.

Mmmm, waffles
Last week was an open house in the mock store on the 6th floor of the Plaza. It was a chance to show off the floorset that will be seen in stores this September. I snapped away some of my favorite fall looks- expecially these waffle knit and flannel layers. Something about waffles and flannel reminds me of Christmas morning.

Little Words
Songs and poems have fueled my fire ever since I was really little. As a teen I was able to write the words that inspired me on the walls of my bedroom as a daily reminder that things can get better, or worse, depending on the tide.

Fashion Challenge
This week I decided to wear at least one piece of vintage each day, and I have been able to stick it out (even while sick on Tuesday). On Monday I paired my 501 shorts with this sweater my bf bought for me at a flea market in Park Slope at the beginning of spring. It hasn’t gottem much wear until this San Francisco “summer”.

I Went Forth
As if running 3 miles without stopping wasn’t ambitious enough, my bf and I did some hiking in the Sierra Nevadas last week reaching an altitude of 7,200 feet. It’s a good thing I was wearing my super durable 501 shorts since I decided to descend the mountain on my butt. hehe

I had the most wonderful week with my boyfriend in town. Although he is gone, I am not sad- he filled me with such happy feelings and I know we won’t be apart for too much longer. As soon as he got home to Brooklyn he booked another trip out here right before I leave California.

This weekend I ran my first 5K. I may not had won the race, but I completed this goal and exceeded my expectations. All I had to do was put my mind to it and stop making excuses. Now I am looking forward to new goals and new milestones.

Levi's Commuter Secret
While interviewing the designer of the Levi’s Commuter Series yesterday, she took me to see her bike which was housed in a room across the Plaza from Levi’s HQ where the Levi’s employees keep their bikes. I would have never known this was there!

Something for Myself
Recently I discovered how cathartic going to the gym can be. In all honesty, I joined out of boredom and due to the fact that this boredom has caused me to put on a few pounds since coming to SF. It is my favorite part of the day. It is the time that I get to spend for myself and it has motivated me to eat healthy and manage my time more wisely.

All in a week's work
Sometimes looking back on a busy week of mini and major tasks helps you appreciate Friday even more. I am a list maker, and as technological as I am, I love old fashioned date books, pens, highlighters and Post-Its (gosh, do I love Post-Its).

Whenever someone visits the offices at Levi’s Plaza, they marvel in the amount of jeans that litter the walkways. There are clothing racks bursting with denim tucked in every corner and crevice, in hallways, between desks, on my way to the kitchen. Surprisingly, this never struck me as abnormal!
